The long-awaited Magic: The Gathering — FINAL FANTASY set will soon release on June 13! In anticipation of this exciting event, we're introducing some of the cards in the set – sixteen articles for sixteen mainline games in the series!
The elements we showcase here range from iconic characters to defining moments—aspects that encompass the essence of the FINAL FANTASY franchise.
For our eleventh showcase, we’d like to show you two cards from FINAL FANTASY XI.
Our first card today is “Forest.”
FINAL FANTASY XI has a plethora of beautiful verdant environments to explore, from lush woods to vibrant jungles, dense forests, and more. The area depicted in this card is Knightwell, located in Ronfaure—a wooded region around the Kingdom of San d'Oria, one of the first areas the adventurer can step foot in.
Our second card today features a Notorious Monster (NM), powerful foes that roam the vast world of FINAL FANTASY XI. Among them, "Absolute Virtue" is an especially notable one, having remained undefeated for ages and causing a lot of adventurers a great deal of trouble. Many a player would spin legends of how this Notorious Monster mowed down those who sought to do battle with it...alongside any unfortunate bystanders who happened to be nearby.
From traveling along forest paths and discovering a myriad of quests, to roaming the open plains and stumbling upon astonishingly powerful monsters—FINAL FANTASY XI has it all and more. We hope the two cards introduced today gave you a good glimpse into the life of an adventurer exploring the world of FINAL FANTASY XI!

Absolute Virtue
This notorious monster returns to bring ruin to your alliance! Absolute Virtue has an iconic place in FINAL FANTASY XI's legacy and has such an interesting visual design, it was a no-brainer for us to include it in the set. If you look at the art closely, you can see dozens of adventurers have already been defeated. This card is very powerful; watch out when your opponent plays it!

FINAL FANTASY XI
The world of Vana'diel is a crossroads of magic, swords, and technology. It is also a battlefield where those who believe in light face monsters that thrive in darkness. The struggle centers on the control of crystals: sacred stones that are the fundamental source of all creation.
The monsters showed no mercy as they laid waste to beautiful towns, ravaged the land, and polluted the streams and rivers of Vana'diel. But the people united to seize victory from the jaws of the beastmen, earning themselves temporary respite from a life-and-death struggle.
Twenty years have passed since the people's great victory. But now, even as the memories of battle have begun to fade, a new evil grows inside Vana'diel...
