I set off to Abalathia with Haurchefant's younger brother Emmanellain. The gaelicats were just like those from FINAL FANTASY V. Awww! And the paissa is...cute in its own way? I'm not sure if it's a monkey or a bird, but whatever it is, it grows on you.
Apparently, you can learn to fly by collecting aether currents scattered around Ishgard. I received an aether compass and got right on it. The aether currents are generally found in questing areas, so it didn't take long! At long last...my chocobo took the plunge...
And soared majestically through the air!
The black chocobo is a gift from Haurchefant. I'm feeling the love!
I continued on with Alphinaud, seemingly new to adventure, and Estinien, perceptive yet cold. Their conversation made me a little nervous, but was fascinating nonetheless. I was ecstatic when I received HQ (high-quality) gear as a quest reward! I've also been using the set made by Cid's Ironworks. I have to hand it to him, it's really coming in handy!
I returned to Ishgard for the next warrior quest. Gorge and I were joined by Gorge's older brother, Broken Mountain. I even got myself a new set of skills! Look out, Eorzea!

Hi, everyone! Tomy from the FF portal team again. I hit level 61!
As I made my way through the main story, I unlocked the Steps of Faith.
Here's a taste of the battle. Big guy, huh? It barely flinched at our attacks as it kept lumbering forward, destroying barrier after barrier. Other monsters appeared during the fight, so I grabbed them while still attacking the beast. The cannons and ballistae aren't just for decoration! I can't wait to try them next time!
I met Estinien, an armored man reminiscent of FINAL FANTASY IV's Kain. I wonder what he looks like under his helm. It's so exciting meeting mysterious, masked characters!
The next stop: Ishgard.
I arrived at Ishgard, the city I'd seen in the distance from Coerthas. The sturdy stone architecture has a much different feel than the other three city-states, and the grand music has a hint of melancholy. Ruled by the Ishgardian Orthodox church; a divide between the rich and poor; armed soldiers patrolling the streets. I love this kind of stuff!
I took the scenic route and went to meet Haurchefant's father, Count Edmont de Fortemps. The people of Ishgard are wary of outsiders, but the count welcomed me with open arms. What an attractive older gentleman!
The north awaits!
