E3 2019 Report

Hello! This is Tomy from the FF portal team. It’s finally that time of year again! I flew to LA to get the latest information on FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers, available on July 2, as well as that other game everyone’s anxiously awaiting!

On June 9, two days before E3, the orchestral concert FINAL FANTASY VII A Symphonic Reunion was held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The orchestra’s beautiful performance was accompanied by scenes from FINAL FANTASY VII.

After the game’s main theme and the final performance of the night drew to a close, Mr. Yoshinori Kitase and Mr. Tetsuya Nomura took the stage! Thunderous applause filled the theater as they surprised everyone with the latest trailer for FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE. When the release date was revealed at the end, the audience couldn’t contain its excitement!

This year’s E3 was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 11 to June 13. Banners and game advertisements were all over the city, creating quite a festive atmosphere!

Huge images of Sephiroth from FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and a dark knight from FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers adorned the outside of the convention center building.

The Square Enix booth was located in the South Hall, and in the open area on the way to the booth was a space dedicated to FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE! There, you could have your picture taken straddling the Hardy-Daytona. Your chance to become Cloud!

The other side of the display was decorated with images and design documents of the game.

Past the display was the South Hall.

On the left side of the picture is the FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE area, complete with a smoking mako reactor! On the right side is the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers area, designed to resemble the Crystarium!

I heard there was a FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE demo, so I rushed over... only to be met with a line a mile long! There was also a display case with a Cloud action figure standing next to his Hardy-Daytona, as well as a display of delicately crafted chronograph wristwatches.

Further inside was Mako Reactor 1.

I had the opportunity to play the demo, and I have to say – Cloud looked amazing! The graphics were so incredible, I was completely sucked into the game. I even got to unleash the limit break Cross-Slash to defeat a monster before the demo ended. I’m counting down the days till the release!

At the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers area, I was teamed up with seven others to take down Titania! The two new jobs coming with the expansion, gunbreaker and dancer, were also available to play!

They were handing out shirts to groups that managed to defeat her, but she was really tough, and my party ran out of time... What a shame.

All in all, E3 was a large-scale event filled with elaborate booths and displays that were chock-full of new information and experiences, even outside of the Square Enix booth!

My five days in LA were a whirlwind of fun and excitement! We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest information, so please look forward to more to come!
